SnmpError in scanning HP Switch 1800-24G

Hi there,

we integrated rxInventory at our customers site straight forward. When we came to the point to scan the network components we "lost" one of four switches. The scan failed due to the following error:

Code: Alles auswählen

Error in "rxsnmp.rx" at line 265: Request for .1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.1.244.206.70.44.182.153 failed with error 12 (SnmpError)
Scanner version: 3.6.31.0
Version 3.6.31.0, OS:6.1 Service Pack 1

Not inserted because scan did complete with code SnmpError
The curiosity in this error is, we have three identical switches of that kind (HP 1800-24G). Two were scanned successful, but one failed.

What did go wrong?

Thanks for help in advance.

Best regards
ras

Another one: Scanning a WatchGuard XTM gives following error:

Code: Alles auswählen

Error in "rxmain.rx" at line 252: Request for .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0 failed with status 16 (SnmpError)
Scanner version: 3.6.31.0
Version 3.6.31.0, OS:6.1 Service Pack 1

Not inserted because scan did complete with code SnmpError

Hi ras,

you did nothing wrong. :)

SNMP sometimes returning error 12 (SNMP_ERRORSTATUS_INCONSISTENTVALUE) is a known issue with HP switches.
Usually it goes away after rebooting the switch but may come back after some time.
We have reports that a firmware update helps.

Best regards,
Werner

Hi Werner,

tnx for your quick reply. Good to know about the fw "issue". Chances are good that there are different versions installed.

Tnx so far. :)
